Well, we have finished our first full week of operation. It's been quite a large learning Curve but we are ready to head into our second week smarter and stronger. It feels good to offer something unique into the Kaohsiung Food Market. It seems our Buttermilk Biscuits are creating quite a nice buzz. Below are a few shots of the first week. Well, we had our grand opening on April 19th. It was a lot of fun and we were very, very busy. Everyone enjoyed the food and the music. Big shout out to Seamas Manly and Goober Gun for giving us some good music. The after party at Azodi Park was also a lot of fun.
We are now open 6:30 - 10am Tuesday through Friday and 8am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday. Well, this morning was the first attempt at making the famous Arkansas Diner Biscuits. Though the flavor was good, they didn't rise as expected and their appearance left a lot to be desire. We put Bacon, Egg and Cheese on them and yum yum. I am pretty sure the key problem is that I was using what is called Bread Flour and didn't put in Baking Soda nor Baking Powder. This afternoon i will try again, and keep trying until I get them perfect.
Well, this past weekend I finally got all the decorations up. Maybe not all as I think I will be adding more as the business runs. But for now, it's up and looking good. This week we'll start posting cooking pictures.
Well, got most everything all set up, now time to clean. We spent the Spring Break cleaning the place up and now I get the fun of starting to decorate. Of course first things up are the musical instruments. I'm happy to say that the pieces hanging in the Arkansas Diner are instruments that I have played at various shows in Taiwan.
Well, yesterday the air men came and put in the air cleaning system. It's pretty massive and was quite expensive. I hope it works and we don't get any complaints about smells. Here are some images from the installation.
